In the 1930s Frank Lloyd Wright designed an important series of houses for families of widely varying means that came to be called Usonian, a term Wright used to describe a philosophy of living in harmony with the land he envisioned as unique to the United States of North America, USONIA. These Usonian houses were revolutionary in their time and have influenced modern houses of all sizes and prices since their creation. For many Usonian houses, Frank Lloyd Wright included a wood cutout window pattern unique to the house. These are known as perforated boards and the pattern is the “FRETWORK.”
